The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) said on Tuesday that 61 patients of Kovid-19 died in the country in the last 24 hours. Earlier on January 19, a record 74 patients died due to infection. A month ago, cases were increasing in the country due to the delta variant of the corona virus, while now the cases of infection are increasing due to Omicron. 39 deaths were recorded in Korea on Wednesday, due to which a total of 7,202 deaths have occurred here due to corona so far.

South Korea, with a population of about 52 million, has been able to prevent corona infection to a large extent. Here the guidelines related to corona, wearing masks, social distancing and aggressive testing and tracing were followed properly. But officials changed the policy starting this month to introduce self-testing and self-tracing so that the Omicron variant does not spread much.

More than 86% of South Koreans vaccinated

KDCA data shows that more than 86% of South Koreans have been fully vaccinated, while 58% have received a booster dose. Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum said that the government is considering easing the current strict Corona restrictions.

On the other hand, South Korea recorded the highest number of deaths in the last one month due to corona virus infection on Tuesday. In view of the increasing cases of corona virus infection, US health officials have advised their citizens not to travel there. South Korea is currently facing a horrific wave of epidemics due to the Omicron variant of the corona virus.


US issued advisory on travel to Korea
